Kool Smiles Launches 2nd Annual Dental Health Essay Contest


ATLANTA, Feb. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Leading children's dental health provider Kool Smiles today announced its second annual My Kool Smiles Scholarship Fund essay contest, sponsored by the Benevis Foundation. Kool Smiles will award a $5,000 scholarship to the student who submits the winning essay response to the question, "What is the biggest dental health challenge facing U.S. children today? What solutions would you support to address this challenge?"

Submissions for this year's dental health essay contest will be accepted from February 1, 2018 through February 28, 2018. Eligible U.S. students are encouraged to enter. Applications and submission guidelines can be found online at: https://www.mykoolsmiles.com/l/scholarship

"The My Kool Smiles Scholarship Fund and essay contest are designed to support the next generation of leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities," said Dr. Dale Mayfield, Chief Dental Officer of Kool Smiles. "This year's essay question explores the biggest dental health challenges affecting U.S. children. We look forward to reading how students will address this important topic and provide valuable solutions in their responses."

In addition to the essay, eligible students must also complete and submit an online application by the February 28, 2018 deadline. The winner and runner-up will be announced on March 12, 2018.

To qualify for the contest, all student applicants must either be in their final year of high school, enrolled as an undergraduate, or a graduate student in an accredited U.S. institution. They must also be considered in "good standing" at their current institution, with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Students are advised to carefully review the scholarship program's Official Rules to ensure they are qualified before entering.

Entries will be reviewed by a panel of Kool Smiles dentists and team members and will be judged on clarity, originality, creativity, and persuasiveness.
