Resource Recycling announces plans for clean recycling center in Howell

HOWELL, N.J., Jan. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Resource Engineering, also known as Resource Recycling (RR), is reaching out to area residents at www.sustainablenjnow.com regarding their efforts to bring a clean recycling center to Howell Township. Eight years ago, RR transformed a dilapidated and derelict site into a vital recycling business. They plan to expand operations to include the recycling of construction debris. This will add 40 high-quality full-time jobs.

Currently, area construction debris is being trucked through Howell to landfills in northern Monmouth County. The expanded facility will intercept truck traffic that is now traveling through Howell, but not contributing to the Township's revenue. Resource Recycling will pay a substantial per ton host fee back to Howell Township.

"We're investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to clean up this site and make it a sustainable recycling center, recycling 70% of incoming material that would otherwise end up in New Jersey landfills," says Bernie Gutherz of Resource Recycling. "We will also be providing significant fees to Howell Township."

The planned recycling operations will take place inside a new building designed to reduce noise and dust.

A traffic light and turning lanes will be added to the intersection of Randolph and Route 547 to improve the safety of motorists and residents.

The expanded Recycling Transfer Station will accept construction and demolition debris only. A large portion of the sorted material will be clean wood which will be processed into mulch onsite.  Planners confirm that household trash will never be accepted.
