Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership Foundation Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP)


NEW YORK, Jan. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Milstein Medical Asian American Partnership (MMAAP) Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) on building a strategic partnership between the MMAAP Foundation and CAIEP.

At the ceremony, both parties agreed to promote a mutually beneficial partnership and to further enhance cooperation and exchange of personnel/experts between China and the United States.

The CAIEP delegation was led by Mr. Jianguo Zhang, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, CAIEP Director, and Administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), P. R. China.

Mr. Howard P. Milstein, Chairman of MMAAP Foundation, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of New York Private Bank & Trust and its operating bank, Emigrant Bank, stated: "US-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship of the 21st century. I am glad that we are making progress on building trust between the two countries, and developing collaboration on exchanging personnel, which is part of MMAAP Foundation's initiatives." 

 "CAIEP and MMAAP foundation share mutual interests on the exchange of experts," said Mr. Jianguo Zhang. "The signing of this MOU will deepen the communication and understanding between the two countries and promote the interaction between peoples."

Also in attendance were Dr. Sean Leng, President of MMAAP Foundation, Mr. Steve Orlins, President of the National Committee on US ? China Relations, and other board members of MMAAP Foundation. Mr. Steve Orlins hosted CAIEP delegation's visit to the National Committee on US ? China Relations.

The meeting was a reunion from 2016 when Howard P. Milstein was honored by the Chinese government at the State Guest House in Beijing with a prestigious Marco Polo Award for his contributions to developing international leadership and Sino-US collaborations in key areas of healthcare and medical research through the MMAAP Foundation.

The strategic partnership between MMAAP Foundation and CAIEP is another milestone in the philanthropic efforts of the Milstein family and the MMAAP Foundation's work with China. It will further facilitate development of clinical care and medical research in China as well as enhance the Sino-US relationship.

China Association for International Exchange of Personnel

The China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) is a nationwide government-sponsored institution under the direct guidance of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) of China's State Council. It engages in the international exchange of specialized technical and managerial personnel.

CAIEP aims to promote exchange and cooperation between China and other nations in the fields of industry, agriculture, finance, science and technology, education, medicine, and culture through the international exchange of personnel. Its main tasks are to invite foreign experts to work in China, designate Chinese managerial and technical personnel to go abroad for practical training, assist Chinese and foreign organizations in developing friendly exchange and business relations, and arrange for foreign friends to engage in research, training, and study in China. These goals contribute to China's reform, modernization, openness to the world, and to the advancement of human civilization.

CAIEP has established representative offices in New York, San Francisco, and Atlanta. The New York Representative Office celebrated its 30th anniversary on December 14th, 2017.
