Safe Movement Launches With Week-Long "SAFE SPACE" Activation in Park City During the 2018 Sundance Film Festival


PARK CITY, Utah and LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SAFE SPACE Celebrates Thought Leaders, Influencers and Activists Working to Empower Women to Respect Themselves, Protect Themselves, Be Safe and Feel Safe.

SAFE Movement announces its first annual SAFE SPACE, a private lounge featuring an eclectic mix of panel discussions, luncheons, private cocktail parties; as well as an exclusive After Hours Lounge featuring world class DJs and intimate surprise performances.

SAFE SPACE is centrally located at 427 Main Street below Park City Live and will be open Friday, January 19th through Monday, January 23rd from 10am to 4am during The 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Over the course of four days, SAFE SPACE will host events with Global Citizen, Teen Vogue, will.i.am's i.am.angel foundation, the CNN Freedom Project, Interscope Records, Electronic Music Awards, The Respect Rally, the Alliance for Women Directors and "YES Means TEST" by the American Sexual Health Association (ASHA).

"Our goal is to provide a "Safe Space" for movement-makers to meet and discuss the issues affecting women today, from affordable access to reproductive healthcare services to forging an safe, harassment free society," stated Lauren Weiniger, Executive Director of SAFE Movement, "and at the same time honoring the people driving the nation conversation around women's rights and the movement towards social equality."

Each day at SAFE SPACE will start with a Winter Wellness Lounge from 10am to Noon daily, featuring fine coffee and teas, oxygen bar, yoga, guided meditation, juices, healthy snacks, and sound baths. The Wellness Lounge will be followed by luncheons, panel discussions and fire side chats, hosted by Teen Vogue, Global Citizen, the CNN Freedom Project, Association of Women Directors, and cryptocurrency sensation Zap.

Each night at SAFE SPACE will culminate in an exclusive After Hours Lounge from 11pm to 4am with resident DJs Paul Oakenfold and Ashlee Willis, and parties hosted by will.i.am, Global Citizen, Nas, Interscope Records, the Electronic Music Awards Foundation and will feature surprise performances and special guest DJs nightly.

Friday, January 19th, SAFE SPACE kicks off its four-day activation with Park City's first "Sex+Health Summit" hosted by Teen Vogue : featuring actress and mega influencer, Amanda Cerny, author, sexologist, and Trojantm Sexual Health Advisory Council member, Logan Levkoff, PhD, author, Shan Boodram, actress,activist and "YES Means TEST" ambassador, Anna Akana, and Cindy Whitehead, CEO, Pink Ceiling, creator of "The Female Viagra"), who have all generously donated their time to support the cause. The event kicks off with a four-course Teen Vogue luncheon prepared by ChefDance honoring the American Sexual Health Association (ASHA) for its groundbreaking "YES Means TEST" initiative, which empowers young adults who say "YES" to sexual activity also to say "YES" to getting tested for STDs. This will be followed by panel discussions "Let's Talk About Sex: Women breaking barriers and changing the narrative on sex in culture today" and "Love and Sex in the digital age" moderated by Teen Vogue Digital Wellness Editor, Vera Papisova. SAFE SPACE closes out Friday afternoon with "Collab Creators Happy Hour" hosted by Amanda Cerny with a DJ set by Dante and intimate performance by Interscope recording artist Echo Smith.

Saturday, January 20th, SAFE SPACE hosts the "Global Citizen Impact Salon" convening artists and influencers creating impact through film and media. The day opens with a private luncheon prepared by ChefDance hosted by Maria Bello and Geralyn Dreyfous, honoring the Respect Rally and women's movements across the country. Lunch is followed by panel discussion: "Activating Impact through Media and Movements" moderated by Global Citizen Executives Taara Rangarajan and Stephen Brown, with participants including SAFE SPACE hosts the "Global Citizen Impact Salon" convening artists and influencers creating impact through film and media. The day opens with a private luncheon prepared by ChefDance hosted by Maria Bello and Geralyn Dreyfous, honoring the Respect Rally and women's movements across the country. Lunch is followed by panel discussion: "Activating Impact through Media and Movements" moderated by Global Citizen Executives Taara Rangarajan and Stephen Brown, with participants including Black Eyed Peas (will.i.am, Taboo, Apl.de.ap), Masters of the Sun - Virtual Reality Edition cast members Rakim, Jason Isaacs and KRS-One, GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis, and CNN Freedom Project Founder, Leif Coorlim, who has shaped the global conversation and fight against sex trafficking and modern slavery. During the day, there will showings of the VR piece and installation performance of "The Sun Ladies."

The afternoon closes with a cocktail reception with Kweku Mandela, and private screening of his film "Louder Together" produced by Global Citizen. Later in the evening, SAFE SPACE hosts "Smash the Patriarchy" Cocktail party Party to celebrate Sundance 2018 films written, directed, produced, and financed by women, with the filmmakers of NANCY, THE LONG DUMB ROAD, and THE TALE.

The event includes open bar, light lunch and gourmet snacks by ChefDance, and surprise halftime performance. Later in the day, SAFE SPACE honors female filmmakers and content creators making an impact through mass media hosting the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD) Cocktails and Conversation Happy Hour honoring Amy Adrion, director of the film Half the Picture.

Monday, January 22nd, SAFE SPACE hosts the "Cryptocurrency Symposium" featuring thought leaders and founders explaining cryptocurrency in a way the average person can understand. The Cryptocurrency Forum starts with luncheon hosted by Zap, followed by panel discussions featuring the founders and executives of Zap, Airthereum, Intimate, Embermine, and Musiconomy; and a private cocktail reception hosted by Airthereum from 4-6pm.
