Singer/Songwriter/Pianist Akie Bermiss Set to Release EP January 23, 2018
NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Music protégé and cutting-edge solo songwriter/singer/pianist Akie Bermiss will release his new solo EP on January 23, 2018. Entitled #basedonatruestory, this 4-song collection was produced by Mister Goldfinger aka Ray Angry (of The World-Famous Roots Crew). It includes a performance of the original song, Medicine, recorded LIVE at a Sofar Sounds show in the Flatiron Neighborhood of New York City. The album features Mark Whitfield (D'Angelo, Chris Botti) on Guitar, Frederic Yonnet (Stevie Wonder, Dave Chapelle's Band with No Name) on Harmonica, and of course, Ray Angry on Organ. The album will be available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.
Bermiss will be celebrating this release with a show on February 16, 2018 at The Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City. Tickets are available via Akie's website.
Over the past half a dozen years, Bermiss has become a visible contributor to the fertile Brooklyn music scene as a musician, songwriter or featured vocalist with a collective of upstart groups such as; FutureSoul band Aabaraki, the Screaming Headless Torsos, Miri Ben-Ari (the Hip Hop Violinist) and Rap-sensation Soul Khan. He also birthed the Akie Bermiss Trio, independently released his first self-titled solo EP (via Rockwood Records in 2014), and continues to mine a loyal fan base performing frequently at cutting edge venues like Rockwood Music Hall. The Falcon, BAM Cafe and The Apollo Cafe, among others. He recently completed a tour with multi-genre indie band, Lake Street Dive, with stops at First Avenue & 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, The Hollywood Bowl opening for Trombone Shorty, and The Aspen Music Festival as the opening act for Hall & Oates.
