Dell Boomi Invests Big in Product Innovation to Help Enterprises Realize the Power of The Connected Business

ROUND ROCK, Texas, Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dell Boomitm (Boomi), the leading provider of cloud integration and workflow automation software to build The Connected Business, announced continued acceleration in research and development (R&D). The acceleration includes a commitment that the coming year will be another year of growing investment in R&D by more than 50 percent and Steve Wood has been promoted to Chief Product Officer to help lead product innovation efforts.

Boomi exists to help enterprises connect everything and engage everywhere across any channel, device or platform. The Boomi platform equips enterprises to improve productivity, accountability and collaboration across business units and with customers and partners to build The Connected Business and drive digital transformation efforts. Boomi helps to transform businesses, enabling them to adopt best-of-breed cloud, while understanding the realities of the enterprise.

A clear trend toward greater connectivity was identified in a Vanson Bourne survey "The Connected Business: Improving integration and creating connectivity in 2018," which highlights the impact poor integration can have on organizations. Nearly two thirds (64 percent) of enterprises have missed at least one opportunity in the past twelve months due to poor connectivity, with a further 11 percent admitting they may be missing opportunities without even realizing.

Eighty-six percent of IT decision makers believe becoming a more connected business would mean revenue growth for their organization over the course of twelve months. Despite the potential to achieve an average revenue growth of 10 percent or approximately $500M within this timeframe, the report found that six in ten (59 percent) think their organization is struggling to become more connected. Additionally, the Vanson Bourne report stated more than half of CIOs surveyed said successful integration will be crucial to remaining competitive over the next five years.

"Right now, enterprises without cloud integration capabilities are experiencing digital disruptions and missing the potential for huge productivity gains," said Boomi CEO Chris McNabb. "More and more companies are facing the reality of their current enterprise needs by deciding to leapfrog the competition, modernize and move to best-of-breed cloud applications. Our continued, significant investment in R&D and the appointment of Steve Wood to Chief Product Officer shows that we are committed to helping our customers build a Connected Business in order to drive innovation and create revenue opportunities."

Multiple Years of 50 Percent Growth in R&D
Even after increasing R&D investment in 2017 fifty percent and moving corporate headquarters in 2017 to a larger facility, Boomi expects to grow the company's product investment an additional 50 percent in 2018.  The company also doubled sales capacity in the last year and expects to double it again in the coming year.

Steve Wood Leads Product Innovation
As Chief Product Officer for Boomi, Steve Wood will lead product innovation. Steve came to Boomi through the acquisition of ManyWho, a cloud and low-code development platform, in March, 2017. Steve's previous venture, 'Informavores' was created to help make managing customer service processes easy by using APIs, cloud and social, across multiple devices and boasted blue-chip customers. At the end of 2009 Steve sold Informavores to Salesforce.com and joined Salesforce.com as Vice President of Product Management.

"What the survey demonstrates is that organizations are hungry for a unified integration solution that can keep pace with the demands of their business," said Boomi Chief Product Officer, Steve Wood. "With Boomi, our customers have access to a solution to connect everything so they can engage everywhere across any device or platform. Our growth and investment in R&D demonstrates our commitment to Boomi's pioneering spirit and delivering revolutionary products."
