The governments of Canada and Quebec support project to improve water-related infrastructure in Montreal West


MONTREAL WEST, Jan. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Quebec are safeguarding public health and helping protect the province's waterways by investing in projects to ensure that water and wastewater systems in the province are up to date and efficient, and meet communities' increasing capacity needs. These investments will also help create jobs and grow the economy.

The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce?Westmount, and Kathleen Weil, Minister Responsible for Access to Information and the Reform of Democratic Institutions, Minister Responsible for Relations with English-Speaking Quebeckers and Member of the National Assembly for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, today announced that the governments of Canada and Quebec will each invest over $285,000 for the completion of a water-related infrastructures in Montreal West.

This financial assistance comes from the New Building Canada Fund. The City is also contributing over $285,000 for a total government-municipal investment of more than $855,000. The project involves replacing more than 300 metres of drinking water, waste water and storm water lines, as well as completing sewer separation work on Percival Street.
