Rasmussen College Launches an Evening and Weekend Practical Nursing Program at Its Tampa/Brandon Campus

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college, today announced its Practical Nursing program (PN) at the Tampa/Brandon, FL campus, will be offered on evenings and weekends starting in April.1 The Rasmussen College PN Diploma program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. 2 New PN students starting in April will be able to choose to enroll in the evening and weekend program at the Tampa/Brandon campus or the weekday program at the Land O'Lakes/East Pasco campus. "We are excited to offer an evening and weekend Practical Nursing program at our Tampa/Brandon campus, which will allow students in the greater Tampa metro area the ability to choose a LPN program that works best for them," said Staceyann Sinclair, Rasmussen College area campus director. "We are proud to provide a scheduling option for our students as they pursue careers in the increasingly complex and demanding nursing field."

High Demand for LPNs in the Tampa Metro

According to labor analytics firm Burning Glass, more than 1,850 job postings appeared in 2017 for LPNs in the Tampa metro area. When compared to the number of job postings just five years ago?around 1,070?there has been more than 72 percent growth in demand for licensed practical nurses across the Tampa metro area alone.

"Like most communities nationwide, the Tampa metro is feeling the need for highly skilled LPNs, a need that has shown dramatic growth in the past five years," said Eymie Fitzgerald, Rasmussen College Tampa/Brandon campus dean of nursing. "In addition to preparing graduates for the NCLEX-PN exam, the Rasmussen College PN Diploma program provides students with hands-on training in a supportive environment led by experienced nurse faculty. The program has no pre-nursing course requirements or wait list, so qualified students can be on their way to a career as an LPN and help fill the growing needs of the community in as few as 12 months."3

To offer even more flexibility and cost savings, the Rasmussen College PN program offers Flex Choice®?a learning option that allows students to combine traditional courses and optional self-directed assessments to help them earn their PN Diploma with more flexibility and affordability.
