True Health Launches Three Allergy Profiles to Identify Common Food and Inhalant Allergens

FRISCO, Texas, Jan. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, True Health announced that as a part of an ongoing commitment to enhance patient health, it is now offering three new comprehensive allergy profiles, including a Food Allergy Profile, Regional Inhalant Allergy Profile, and Pediatric Allergy Profile. When medically necessary, these tests will provide clinicians useful diagnostics to help patients avoid allergens that could potentially cause allergic reactions, and minimize unnecessary dietary or lifestyle restrictions.

The American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology reports that as many as 40 million Americans may have some form of allergies. Despite high prevalence, diagnosis of the specific source of allergic reactions can be difficult, because various allergens often cause similar manifestations, such as respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms.

"True Health allergy testing helps clinicians determine their patients' specific allergic sensitivities, target exposure-reduction measures, and alleviate or prevent symptoms," says Bobbie Sutton, MD, PhD, Vice President and Laboratory Director at True Health.  "Our tests provide clinicians with actionable results that will identify specific food and inhalant allergens to which a patient has become sensitized. This information will help them design a more personalized & comprehensive patient management plan."

True Health's Allergy Profiles offer FDA-approved testing for up to 53 of the most common allergens seen in symptomatic adult and pediatric patients. The Food Allergen Profile consists of 15 allergens including peanut, milk, wheat, and others. The Inhalant Allergen Profile includes up to 38 allergens, including animal danders, trees, weeds, and others, and will be personalized to the patient's geographic region.

"At True Health, we understand the impact that allergic symptoms can have on a patient's quality of life," says Chris Grottenthaler, CEO of True Health. "It is our utmost goal to provide diagnostic insight that can help patients lead healthier, more comfortable lives."
