Richard Rothstein is the Keynote Speaker at 32nd Annual Land Use Law and Planning Conference Hosted by UCLA Extension


LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- UCLA Extension welcomes Richard Rothstein, author of "The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America," as the keynote speaker, at the 32nd Annual Land Use Law and Planning Conference on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, in Downtown Los Angeles.

Rothstein's keynote speech is expected to offer a powerful historical view of American cities and the explicit discriminatory housing policies and practices on a local, state, and federal level.  Extensively researched, "The Color of Law" was designated one of the ten finalists on the National Book Awards' long list for the best nonfiction book of 2017.  Rothstein is an authority on housing policy and is a research associate of the Economic Policy Institute and a Fellow at the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and of the Haas Institute at the University of California (Berkeley)
