TORONTO, Jan. 10, 2018 /CNW/ -- After last year's successful debut, thousands from the Canadian disability community will attend Abilities Expo Toronto at the International Centre on January 19-21, 2018. Designed to promote greater independence for people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, seniors, wounded veterans, and healthcare professionals, this ground-breaking event will open eyes to new technologies, new possibilities, and new solutions for daily living.

Attendees will enjoy an impressive line-up of products, services, workshops and adaptive activities geared for people of all ages with the full spectrum of disabilities?including physical, learning, developmental, and sensory. Admission to the show will be free and the hours are Friday and Saturday 11:00 am ? 5:00 pm, and Sunday 11:00 am ? 4:00 pm.

"We are thrilled to present an event that is so instrumental in advancing the independence of the disability community," said Ian Forsyth, Managing Partner of Caneast Shows, producer of Abilities Expo Toronto. "Abilities Expo doesn't just bring life-changing products and services together under one roof. We also enhance the experience with an info-packed workshop series, wheelchair dancing, adaptive sports, service animals, and so much more."

Wheel-Trans service, complimentary loaner scooters, sign language interpretation, personal care attendants, and an adult changing room will be available during the event.

Products and Services for the Disability Community
Expo-goers with a wide range of disabilities will test drive a host of mobility products, devices for people with developmental disabilities, medical equipment, home accessories, essential services, low-cost daily living aids, products for seniors, equipment for those with sensory impairments, and more. Not-for-profit organizations that focus on providing resources and services to this underrepresented community will also be on hand.

Sports, Dancing, and More
Because physical activity is key to better health, attendees of all abilities can test their skills with adaptive sports like hockey, rugby, basketball, boccia, curling, tennis and sitting volleyball. After discovering their new favorite pastime, they will learn where they can keep playing year round.

International dancing sensation Auti Angel and Wheel Dance?Canada's first organization to offer wheelchair ballroom and Latin dance?will present unforgettable, interactive dance experiences.

Relevant Workshops
A series of compelling workshops which address pressing disability issues are offered free-of-charge to all attendees. Sessions focus on travel, home accessibility, therapeutic cannabis, chronic pain relief, bionics, hearing loss, pediatric therapies, and that is just for starters.

Assistance Animals
Animals have become an intrinsic part of the disability community. Some are essential to the healing process, while others help their human partners become more independent. Expo-goers can enjoy service dog demonstrations, and learn how these four-legged friends can improve quality of life.
