Pennsylvania Farm Show Great Opportunity for Veterans to Learn More About Military Benefits, Programs and Services

ANNVILLE, Pa., Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In addition to enjoying the food, animals and entertainment during the 102nd  Pennsylvania Farm Show Jan. 6-13, military veterans are encouraged to stop by booth #255 in the Expo Hall and talk to Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) staff at its Mobile Veterans Outreach Van.

The DMVA's accredited veteran service officers can provide veterans and family members with information about benefits such as service connected disability compensation, improved pensions, death pensions, VA health care benefits, burial benefits, education benefits, vocational rehabilitation and much more.

"With about 500,000 people visiting the Farm Show each year, this is a prime opportunity for veterans to conveniently stop by our booth, talk with our staff and learn more about the benefits they have earned through their service," said Maj. Gen. Tony Carrelli, Pennsylvania's adjutant general and head of the DMVA. "We look for every opportunity to connect with Pennsylvania's nearly 820,000 veterans and we are thankful that the PA Department of Agriculture has again provided us with this forum during Farm Show week."

Carrelli said that in addition to stopping by the DMVA information booth, veterans from all eras might particularly enjoy Veterans, Military and Their Families Day on Thursday, Jan. 11, a full day of activities to recognize those who have served and sacrificed.

"Two percent of our population feeds us and two percent of our population protects us," said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. "Our servicemen and women not only sacrifice for our country, they develop skills that transfer extremely well to agriculture careers when they return home, and they bring a diversity of perspective that strengthens our industry. We are honored to partner with DMVA to highlight veterans' service to our country and to the agriculture industry."
