Cat Lovers Help World's Best Cat Littertm Donate 112,000 Pounds of Litter to Shelters

MUSCATINE, Iowa, Dec. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to the help of cat lovers nationwide, World's Best Cat Littertm donated 112,000 pounds of litter in 2017 to five shelters across the United States through its GiveLittertm charity initiative.

Launched in 2010, GiveLittertm has supported dozens of animal shelters across the U.S. with 662,000 pounds of litter donated thus far. Working with five dedicated shelter partners in 2017, World's Best Cat Littertm empowered fans to give back, allowing consumers to vote for their favorite GiveLittertm partner to receive 5,000 pounds of litter. The shelter with the most votes was also eligible for a bonus pot of litter. Fans could vote daily with one click via www.givelitter.com during four voting rounds throughout the year, with the final round coming to a close on November 21st.

"At World's Best Cat Littertm, a top priority is supporting shelter cats so that they can one day find a forever home. GiveLittertm allows our fans to support the hardworking shelters that need this litter to keep helping cats. We are so proud of how active our customers have been in supporting this effort, and are humbled by the impact it has made on these shelters," said Jean Broders, senior brand manager, Kent Pet Group.

The World's Best Cat Littertm 2017 GiveLittertm shelter partners were Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA; Animal Haven in New York, NY; Kitten Rescue in Los Angeles, CA; Austin Humane Society in Austin, TX; and Humane Society of Tampa Bay in Tampa, FL.

For many shelters, the litter donation has a broader impact. Said Karen Ryals, chief development officer for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, "The GiveLittertm donation allows us to reallocate funds to life-saving initiatives for our homeless animals, such as heartworm treatment, special surgery to treat injuries, and medical intervention for illness.  We are so extremely grateful to World's Best Cat Littertm for this wonderful gift."

"Through GiveLittertm, we have been able to care for even more homeless cats in our area and beyond," said Tiffany Lacey, executive director of Animal Haven. "And in fact, it's been even more useful over the last few months with the additional number of cats we have taken in during, first, kitten season and second, the devastation from so many hurricanes. This year more than ever, Animal Haven needed as much litter as possible to continue its good work on behalf of homeless cats."

World's Best Cat Littertm will announce more information about its 2018 GiveLittertm program in the coming months. Visit www.givelitter.com for the latest news and updates.
