Radio Show Challenges Military: Grant Amnesty to Service Members Who Report UFOs

BOSTON, Dec. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. military has long discouraged service members from reporting UFO sightings, sometimes silencing them through threats, detention, and harsh interrogation.

Now, in the wake of a New York Times report on how the Pentagon investigates unidentified flying objects, a national radio show is challenging the Defense Department to grant amnesty to people in the military who disclose such sightings.

"In 1969, the Air Force officially ended a series of studies that investigated more than 12,000 claimed UFO sightings, dismissing most as stars, clouds, or recognized aircraft," said Mack Maloney, host of "Mack Maloney's Military X-Files" radio show. "The Pentagon now acknowledges that it secretly revived this research 10 years ago, paying $22 million to fund a study called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.  So it's clear that the government has been misleading us by claiming that its UFO research ended nearly a half-century ago."

In an installment that airs next week, Maloney challenges the Pentagon to grant amnesty to past and present service members who come forward with reports of UFO sightings.

"Despite many unexplainable events, over the years military commanders have actively discouraged service members from speaking out ? ostracizing them, threatening their pensions, even threatening dishonorable discharge," Maloney said. "In some cases these tactics may have protected the identity of secret weapons, but in most instances, the military was trying to suppress information on UFOs as they were considered potential threats to U.S. national security. What we are saying now is, in light of the New York Times story, let these people talk. "

Maloney is joined every week by co-hosts Juan-Juan and Commander Cobra, both veterans of classified military operations. Regular contributors include UFO researchers Steve Ward and Emily Mittermaier. The program can be heard on several radio networks including Dark Matter Radio, Wednesdays from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Inception Radio, Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Both times are EST.

Maloney is the author of "UFOs in Wartime ? What They Didn't Want You to Know," and "Beyond Area 51." He has also served as a consultant for a government-funded research firm working with U.S. intelligence agencies.
