The move will see Russells' staff occupy two floors of Yalding House, placing one of the industry's premier firms into the former Radio 1 Studios and BBC Central Music Library. The new office interiors have been completely redesigned and will provide a unique atmosphere in the celebrated 'jewel of art deco design' landmark building.
Founded by Tony Russell in 1974 Russells quickly established itself as a pioneer in entertainment law, proudly representing undiscovered artists through to international stadium filling stars. Now a team of 45, the firm provides a full and expanding range of services including Reputation Management, Broadcast, Family Law, a Sports Law division and the soon to be expanded New Technology and Social Media department.
With the expansion of a dedicated department specialising in New Technology and Social Media, Mark Ashelford formerly Head of Lee & Thompson's Digital Media Group, is on board to head up the department and existing digital team of Marine Cabour and Mark Walker. Peter Mason will be joining the team from music licensing company PPL, where he served as a Senior Legal & Business Affairs Executive to run data licensing. The New Technology and Social Media Department will be a complete service with a broader deeper offering and will be available to all clients.
Simon Esplen, Managing Partner at Russells commented: "We're incredibly excited about the move. We've been expanding as a firm within our current Soho offices and have now outgrown them. There's a lot of young talent amongst our staff, bringing a real enthusiasm to the office. We've always had a reputation for integrity and excellence and I'm determined we will maintain and uphold our culture as part of the move. We'll continue to grow organically and broaden the services that we offer our clients, but we are not changing the essence of the firm."
Widely recognised for their personal approach a client summarised Russells as "a firm who cares very deeply about their clients and wherever possible does their best for them with honesty and integrity" adding "that's why I sleep well at night."
Having joined the firm in 1980 Senior Partner Chris Organ said, "Outside of my family Russells has been my entire life". His clients including some of the greatest talents of their generation. He continues, "I have enjoyed nearly every single day working in the heart of Soho surrounded by people that I like, admire and respect and I am very much looking forward to moving with them into a new and iconic home as well as to the next chapter in the future of this wonderful team of people".
It will be business as usual for Russells at Yalding House from Tuesday 2nd January 2018.
