Volkswagen and Consumer Class Reach Agreement in Principle in Canada Involving 3.0L Diesel Vehicles

AJAX, Ontario and TORONTO and MONTREAL, Dec. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Volkswagen and Canadian class counsel announced today that they have reached a nationwide agreement in principle on the benefits that will be available in Canada for owners and lessees of approximately 20,000 affected 3.0L diesel vehicles:

The parties are working to finalize a proposed settlement agreement that will be submitted to the courts in both Ontario and Québec for their pre-approval in the coming weeks. Owners and lessees of 3.0L diesel vehicles wishing to make a claim for benefits do not need to take any action at this time.

Today's announcement coincides with news that U.S. regulators have now approved an emissions repair for all Generation Two vehicles. The recall for this repair is launching today at authorized dealerships in Canada for the Volkswagen Touareg (model years 2013-2016), Audi Q7 (model years 2013-2015) and Porsche Cayenne (model years 2013-2016) 3.0L diesel vehicles, and affected owners and lessees are being notified by mail. Additional notice will be provided when the recall launches in Canada for the Audi A6, A7, A8, A8L and Q5 (model years 2014-2016).

Owners and lessees with Generation Two vehicles may receive the emissions repair recall for their vehicle as soon as it launches in Canada without losing any right to a cash payment under the proposed settlement.
