Fortis Energy Services, A Year In Review

TROY, Mich., Dec. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 2017 was a monumental year for Fortis Energy Services. In a year in which companies still struggled to find their footing, Fortis continued to grow. Fortis owes this achievement to discipline and dedication in all facets of the company's operations.

The year began with Fortis earning the Pro Patria Award, presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). ESGR's Pro Patria Award is presented annually by each ESGR State Committee to one small, one large, and one public sector employer in their state or territory. Recipients have demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the highest level award that may be bestowed by an ESGR State Committee. "We are extremely humbled to receive such a prestigious award. Our Fortis4Vets program offers Veterans and Reservists the quality jobs they deserve. Our ongoing partnership with the ESGR to promote the veteran community in the workforce has been second to none and something we're very proud of," stated Fortis CEO, Nathan Conway. The Fortis4Vets program is dedicated to providing quality job opportunities to Veteran and Reservists. Fortis4Vets honors the high qualifications of the men and women who served or are currently serving our country. Currently 10% of Fortis' workforce is made up of Veterans.

Fortis also took home the New Technology Development of the Year award at the annual Oil & Gas Awards, for FortisTRAC, Fortis' ground breaking technology package. FortisTRAC offers customers a unique solution to viewing and analyzing data during a workover completion operation. This unique and fully customizable solution offers customers a new way of looking at and eliminating inefficiencies on the well site. FortisTRAC has the ability to assist in post-accident investigation to see data outputs from each piece of equipment to ensure operators were following proper operating procedures when the incident occurred. Fortis Energy Services offers the complete FortisTRAC solution, which includes a mobile command center on site, fully functional with satellite internet services. This allows the customer the ability to view what is happening live on location and downhole from the convenience of their office or mobile device. Along with the ability to see what's happening in real-time, FortisTRAC also compiles and archives the tracked data on site to create a history to aid in future continuous improvement. FortisTRAC's real-time data stream and retention of critical information is fully customized to report key performance indicators important to a specific customer, well or task. FortisTRAC allows customers the ability to add functionality and key reporting as needed to a customers' specific request. FortisTRAC has been developed to address the needs that arose during the most recent downturn, creating a more efficient, safer operation while reducing overall costs.

One year...365 days...8,760 hours...525,600 minutes...31,536,000 seconds. For a business like Fortis Energy Services to go that long without a recordable injury is a very impressive accomplishment. In July 2017, Fortis' Northeast operations, celebrated the one-year mark with no recordable injuries, due to incredible focus from each and every employee. In the past, injury free year, Fortis had over 160,000 man hours worked, drilled more than 5,000 plugs, ran over 5 million feet of pipe, all while achieving operational efficiency of over 98%. "In the current oil and gas market, producers are looking for the most efficient service companies to help improve their bottom line while adhering to the strictest of safety regulations. At Fortis, we have differentiated ourselves by taking those two important expectations to the next level and this achievement is the targeted result," Nathan Conway, Fortis CEO said. "It also highlights the developments to our safety program and our coordination with, and focus on the crews on location." Employee safety is the top core value at Fortis Energy Services. Each day Fortis has a safety mission. Mission ZERO is about our organization making a genuine commitment to operating each day incident and injury free. It means that during every task of every day, we strive to perform our operations with ZERO harm to our people, our environment and our assets. Our mission isn't complete yet, as this sets the bar for continuous safety success.

Fortis also announced the induction of Pressure Control into our service line, a component of Fortis' Design Solutions. Including Pressure Control illustrates the increasing breadth and depth of the Fortis product lines and our continued commitment to innovation, efficiency, and being the industry leader in customer experience. The inclusion of pressure control provides an excellent platform on which to expand our position in the Northeast market. We are particularly excited to expand our existing capabilities with a product line that adds value to our customers, both financially and from an operational standpoint. Adding pressure control to our offered services is the natural next step in Fortis' growth.

With the addition of Pressure Control also came the addition of a Pressure Control expert. Jason Alford accepted the position of VP of Operations for Fortis. Mr. Alford has over 27 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, with more than 12 in a management role. Prior to joining Fortis, Mr. Alford's experience included extensive Snubbing / HWO experience performing a wide variety of critical well interventions such as: blowouts, high pressure washouts, hot tap and gate valve drilling freeze operations, dynamic freeze jobs and all aspects of snubbing operations. Mr. Alford has spent time working in some of the largest oil and gas plays in the world including: Norway, Kuwait, Venezuela, Algeria, Libya, UAE, the Gulf of Mexico, North America, and Egypt, where he was the Country Manager for Boots & Coots, a Halliburton company. In 2013, Mr. Alford and his team were awarded the OTC New Technology Award for his work developing Complete Automated Technology Systems, an automated service for CES.

In honor of Veteran's Day this year, Fortis teamed up with the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve, the North Dakota Petroleum Council, and Job Service North Dakota to host the second annual Veteran Friendly Employer Summit at Minot State University. Employers and Veterans came together to discuss how professionals in charge of hiring can become better attune to the qualities and skills of Veterans, while Veterans were able to discuss the situation from their perspective. Lieutenant Governor Brent Sanford gave the keynote speech, urging those in attendance to focus their hiring efforts on Veterans, acknowledging the traits Veterans and Reservists bring to the oilfield. Fortis is committed to supporting those who have served our country by providing quality job opportunities through the Fortis4Vets initiative.

"We are entering 2018 stronger than ever due to exceptional people, an innovative mindset, and the common drive for success across all aspects of the company. We welcome the challenges 2018 poses knowing full well Fortis is in a position to succeed," said Conway.
