Completion of water-related infrastructure in Asbestos

ASBESTOS, QC, Dec. 15, 2017 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Quebec are safeguarding public health and helping protect the province's waterways by investing in projects to ensure that water and wastewater systems in the province are up to date and efficient, and meet communities' increasing capacity needs. These investments will also help create jobs and grow the economy.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Karine Vallières, Member of the National Assembly for Richmond, and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier (Youth Component), today marked the end of construction on an underground wastewater storage reservoir in Asbestos that will contain flooding upstream of the community's treatment plant.

This work was carried out thanks to government funding totalling over $820,000 from the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund (CWWF). The city also received a contribution of over $31,000 from the Quebec Municipalities Water Infrastructure Program (PRIMEAU) to carry out preliminary project studies.

Two water pipe renewal projects in Asbestos were also funded through the CWWF program.
