OSSimTech continues to grow with a $2.15 million input from the Government of Quebec

MONTREAL, Dec. 15, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - At a time where simulation has become the framework of reference for the training of health professionals, the Québec government, through their program, Créativité Québec, has made a point of investing $2.15 million in OSSimTech, a new MedTech link in the Montréal startup ecosystem. OSSimTech develops surgical simulators that combine virtual reality and haptic technology in order to solidify surgical training.

The funds will serve to reinforce the company's clinical and technical content, and will essentially permit the expansion of the company which has already won over new partners and markets worldwide.

"The government's financial contribution is very meaningful for us," remarks André Blain, President of OSSimTech. "It is wonderful to be recognized for our innovation, especially by the medical and surgical communities that have used and tested our Sim-Ortho simulator. We are also grateful for the technical and business coaching experts that are supporting us along the way. We are both proud and honored that this great project which directly addresses the challenges in open surgery training to secure the practice, is driven by an emergent Quebec-based company and to know that our state-of-the-art technology and expertise are recognized and implemented throughout the world. The Government of Quebec initiative permits our organization to maintain its extraordinary growth locally and on an international stage and has, most notably, helped OSSimTech expand the reach of its surgical simulators."

"Innovation is essential to the growth of our economy and businesses, especially in the global market," says Dominique Anglade, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Science, and Innovation, responsible for the Digital Strategy. "OSSimTech understands this goal, which is why we are so pleased to join them in realizing their innovative project ? a business venture that will enhance Québec's reputation for excellence in the life sciences sector with regard to innovation and the training of healthcare professionals. Thanks to projects like this one, we can attain targets established as part of the Québec Strategy for Life Sciences, which strive to situate the province in the top five North American hubs for this promising field, by the year 2027."
