EdTech Conference to Highlight Growing Cybersecurity Threats and Standards

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NJEdgeCon2018, the premier EdTech conference in New Jersey presented by NJEdge, will examine the current cybersecurity landscape and its many challenges through a track of sessions dedicated to networking and data security. The track will focus on national security standards and cyber attacks as they relate to organizational action plans and solutions.

Leading industry experts will present 11 solution-based, interactive sessions tailored for CIOs, network engineers, managers, directors and security professionals. The sessions will provide a comprehensive review of technology advancements in response to the major risks and threats associated with network and data usage, and forward-looking strategies to implement these innovations.

The Network and Data Security track will include the following sessions:

"The accelerating spread of the Internet of Things (IoT), rampant ransomware attacks, and growth of information breaches place great responsibility on privacy and info security," said Dr. William J. Adams, Vice President for Research and Cybersecurity, Executive Director for Michigan Cyber Range/Merit Network and plenary speaker at NJEdgeCon2018. "I'm eager to participate in the Cybersecurity and Strategic Issues for the Enterprise session, which will address the threats posed by network and data use in the workplace, and inform participants how to respond accordingly."

In addition to technology advances, best practices and key industry insights, attendees will gain an exclusive overview of EdgeSecure, NJEdge's information security solution that protects a company's most valuable digital assets by building an inventory of a group's ecosystem, diagnosing vulnerabilities, creating a plan to fix them, and identifying who can help with the process.

"One of the biggest challenges in cybersecurity is the rapid evolution of complex security threats, which often overmatch traditional responses," said Michael Reekie, Network and Security expert at NJEdge and speaker at NJEdgeCon2018. "To deal with such a threat, responses need to be continuous and as real-time as possible. We will discuss these issues and their responses in detail with attendees at our conference, so I encourage all those in the cybersecurity space to attend."

NJEdge, a non-profit group providing optical networking, internet, digital media management, and IT products and solutions to academic and research institutions will be hosting NJEdgeCon2018 on January 11-12, 2018, at the Hanover Marriott Conference Center in Whippany, NJ.

Attendees will be able to join pre-conference, development opportunities, including Leading the Organizational Change Process, designed to help attendees create a roadmap for successful execution of major change, and a workshop for Aspiring Higher Education Technology Leaders. More information about these programs is also available on the website.
