Nurse-Led Research Benefits From Donation to DAISY Foundation

BROOKFIELD, Wis., Dec. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A partnership between Nurse.com by OnCourse Learning and The DAISY Foundation has produced a new digital publication about nurse recognition and enabled OnCourse Learning to donate $2,000 to the foundation.

Since 1999, the foundation has recognized compassionate and skillful nursing care through its DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Their work surrounding nurse recognition is highlighted in the digital edition "DAISY Brings Meaningful Recognition to Nurses."

"This edition is a valuable, timeless resource that shares all that DAISY does to lift up nurses," said Lance Pine, senior vice president of recruitment and advertising solutions for Nurse.com. "We are excited to be able to give back to the nursing profession by partnering with The DAISY Foundation, which supports nurses across the globe."

OnCourse Learning is lending its support to the foundation by donating $2,000 to its nurse-led research projects program. Since 2007, DAISY has funded 94 different projects via its research grants for up to $5,000 and evidence-based practice grants for up to $2,000.

"Our mission to express gratitude to nurses for the care they provide patients and families is enhanced by our ability to support nurses in their drive to improve nursing practice through research and evidence-based practice," said Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, co-founder and president of The DAISY Foundation. "OnCourse Learning's donation to our J. Patrick Barnes Grants fund helps us do this for more deserving nurses."

What's inside?

The digital edition contains more than a dozen unique articles, including:

"Every time I watch a DAISY video or read one of their honoree's profiles, I am inspired by the compassion these nurses show," said Heather Cygan, Nurse.com's senior director of content and creative strategy. "Nurse.com has had a long history of recognizing excellence, so I'm proud we are able to continue to recognize nurses in a meaningful way."

How DAISY supports research

The edition also includes an article focused on tips nurses can use to apply for DAISY grants.
