/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Minister Goodale to make an announcement/


REGINA, Dec. 7, 2017 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to join the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, as he announces support for research into operational stress injuries to police officers, including post-traumatic stress disorder. The Minister will be joined by Assistant Commissioner Stephen White, Acting Chief Human Resources Officer of the RCMP, Dr. Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina, and Dr. Nicholas Carleton, Professor of Psychology and Scientific Director of the Canadian Institute of Public Safety Research and Treatment at the University of Regina. A media availability will follow.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Sergeant Major's Parade at 12:45 p.m., where Minister Goodale will inspect the cadet troops prior to the announcement.

Members of the media are asked to arrive at the RCMP Academy at 12:15 p.m. Please park at the RCMP Heritage Centre (5907 Dewdney Avenue) and proceed south to the Fort Dufferin Guard Room to receive a visitor's pass and meet with your escort. All visitors are required to leave a piece of government-issued identification in order to receive a visitor's pass. Visitors must be accompanied at all times while at the RCMP Academy.
