Denver's Thrive Home Builders Wins "Professional Builder's 2017 Builder Of The Year"

DENVER, Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Denver's own Thrive Home Builders has been named Professional Builder magazine's 2017 Builder of the Year. The magazine's newest edition was released today with Thrive CEO Gene Myers on the cover. The recognition comes on the heels of the October award for Innovation in Housing from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

"We've spent the past 25 years pushing the envelope on innovative, sustainable home construction in Denver, and it's extremely gratifying that the broader industry is taking notice," said Thrive Home Builders CEO Gene Myers. "We believe that designing a beautiful home is where innovation begins, but not where it ends, and we're trying to set a new standard of improving the lives of our homeowners and the broader community."

Professional Builder's editorial staff selects one builder every year to recognize with its Builder of the Year award. Created in 1965, the Builder of the Year award has recognized the best innovators and leaders in the home building industry for more than 50 years.

"For 25 years, continuous innovation has been the hallmark of Thrive Home Builders, and we are very pleased to add the company to our illustrious Builder of the Year list," said Professional Builder Editorial Director Denise Dersin. "From building eco-friendly homes to Zero Energy Ready homes to healthy homes providing superior indoor air quality, Thrive has set the bar for the country's production home builders and proven itself to be an outstanding industry leader."

Thrive Home Builders, which designs LEED Certified, Zero Energy Ready homes throughout Metro Denver, received its fifth and sixth Grand Awards for Housing Innovation from the DOE in October 2017.  Thrive won in the multi-family homes category for its first zero-energy townhome in the Ridgegate community in Lone Tree, and in the production homes category for Thrive's zero energy homes in the Boulevard One at Lowry community in Denver.

Thrive has been recognized in the DOE Housing Innovation Awards since the program began in 2013. Only those U.S. builders deemed experts in the field of energy-efficient home building and that meet rigorous technical requirements are given the agency's top honors. Thrive homes set a new standard for new-home development, and use a combination of double thick 2x4 walls, superior insulation and solar power to increase energy efficiency.
