Enjoy a Winter Wonderland at The Studio!


CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Dec. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coral Springs Museum of Art is providing a creative alternative for youth, ages 6 to 12, who will be on winter break. From Tuesday, December 26 to Friday, December 29, 2017, budding artists are invited to create drawings, paintings, sculptures and more during Winter Wonderland at The Studio at the Coral Springs Museum of Art!

"Winter Wonderland at The Studio will provide kids with numerous opportunities to get messy and be creative in a fun environment," said Julia Andrews, Executive Director of the Coral Springs Museum of Art.

Taught by professional artists, each class will offer something to suit each participant's interests and skill level. Camp sessions will run from 9 a.m. ? 4:30 p.m. daily, and the Museum staff will end each day with a special winter-themed event and movie showing.

The Winter Wonderland at the Studio schedule is as follows:

Ages 6-8

9 a.m. ? 12:30 p.m.: Sculpture
Children will spend the week working wood, paper, wire, cloth, clay and found objects into creative masterpieces. During this class, they will make interesting and unique creations inspired by other artists.

12:30 p.m. ? 1 p.m.: Lunch

1 p.m. ? 4:30 p.m. Drawing and Painting
Children will explore different painting techniques and basic color mixing. They will learn about using basic shapes and forms to create a masterpiece. This is an excellent class to give your child a great start in the world of art! Fun winter-themed projects will be included.

Ages 9-12

9 a.m. ? 12:30 p.m.: Comic Book Design
Children will learn the finer points of designing comics including character creation, storyboard design, drawing techniques and plot development. A lively discussion and history of comic books and their characters adds to the fun.

12:30 p.m. ? 1 p.m.: Lunch

1 p.m. ? 4:30 p.m. Painting
This class is for beginners or intermediates. Children will paint still life, landscapes and portraits while learning composition, color mixing and different techniques with brushes, palette knives, watercolor and acrylics. Fun winter-themed projects will be taught by the teacher.

Wednesday, December 27
Hot Cocoa Day and "The Jungle Book"

Thursday, December 28
Wacky Hat Day and "Finding Dory"

Friday, December 29
Winter Party and "Zootopia"

The cost for each child to participate in Winter Wonderland at The Studio is $270 per week. Aftercare is available from 4:30 p.m. ? 5:30 p.m. for an additional $20. Registration is due three days prior to the date the session is set to begin. A $15 late registration fee applies to all orders placed after Sunday, December 24, 2017.
