Disturbing Allegations Surface From Victims of A Man Practicing as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist Without a Lawfully Obtained Medical License

BALTIMORE, Dec. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New allegations are surfacing from victims of a man practicing as an obstetrician-gynecologist at Prince George's Hospital Center without a lawfully obtained Maryland medical license, as revealed in a Class Action Complaint filed on behalf of his victims by Jonathan Schochor and the law firm of Schochor, Federico & Staton, P.A. in Baltimore, Maryland.

"I'm scarred for my life and I do not trust any male doctor at all anymore," Jazmine Tinsley said. Tinsley is a young mother from Capitol Heights, Maryland, who is part of the group represented by Schochor, Federico and Staton.

Charles Akoda is alleged to have treated hundreds of women from 2012 to 2016 as an obstetrician-gynecologist at Prince George's Hospital Center, despite having an unlawfully obtained medical license.

Akoda was indicted by the U.S. Attorney's office for social security number fraud. Search warrants served upon Akoda recovered a false social security card; a false Nigerian passport; a false U.S. Visa; and fraudulent or altered documents relating to immigration, medical diplomas, medical transcripts, letters of recommendations and birth certificates.

Akoda subsequently pled guilty to social security fraud and was sentenced to jail time, as well as home detention and supervised release.

Akoda's license to practice medicine in Maryland was revoked in 2017.

Now victims of Charles Akoda are speaking out. "Akoda's patients feel that they have been betrayed, and suffered a breach of faith and trust. They feel that a hospital should be a safe haven, and that they have a right to be provided care by well-credentialed, lawfully licensed medical practitioners," said Jonathan Schochor, whose Baltimore firm represents these women and their children.

Additionally, victims of Charles Akoda believe they have been the victims of boundary violations, as well as other injuries and damages, including injuries to their babies.

Schochor, Federico & Staton, P.A.'s prior experience includes a Class Action on behalf of patients of Nikita Levy, M.D., an obstetrician-gynecologist, who secretly videotaped and/or photographed his patients during examinations without their consent, and was additionally allegedly guilty of boundary violations. Mr. Schochor initiated that Class Action litigation and spearheaded the litigation until the case settled for $190 million - purported to be the largest single perpetrator sexual abuse case in U.S. history.
