/R E P E A T -- Media Invitation - Federal Funding for Police Services in First Nations Communities/


OTTAWA, Dec. 5, 2017  /CNW Telbec/ - On the eve of the expiry of the Government's First Nations Policing Program (FNPP), the AFNQL, along with Band Councils Chiefs and Police Chiefs, wish to reaffirm their interest in an immediate investment to meet the need to build a collaborative and transparent approach as the federal First Nations Policing Program is set to expire on March 31, 2018.

On Wednesday, December 6 at 10:30 am, during the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) taking place from December 5 to 7, 2017 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa, at 11 Colonel By Drive, the AFNQL and representatives of First Nations are reminding the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Ralph Goodale, of the fundamental importance of the issues and realities faced by First Nations communities in terms of security and the funding of police services.
