Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism Honors New England's Top 40 Autism Organizations Serving Families


FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Dec. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The largest gathering of autism organizations in New England will convene at The Boston Marriott Newton on Friday, December 8th at 9AM for the 4th Annual Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism Partner Summit. The Flutie Foundation will announce approximately 40 grant recipients chosen to receive close to $400,000 in funding to further programs and services that are supporting families affected by autism. It is estimated that over 10,000 people will be directly impacted by this year's funding.

Speakers at this year's summit, sponsored by the Wireless Experiencetm, include Jackie Bruno of NBC Boston 10, who will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Summit and Keynote Speaker Actor, Father and Writer Billy Devlin.

"Every year the Flutie Foundation has the pleasure of hosting more than 100 Autism Organizations; the largest gathering in New England," said Lisa Borges, executive director of the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. "The opportunity to share ideas, celebrate accomplishments and to recognize leaders for the important work they do is immeasurable."

The summit will include educational speakers and two capacity building workshops: Creating a Social Media Community hosted by Causemo, Inc. and Building the Model Development Program hosted by Charles Gordon of the New Kensington Group

Since 1998, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism has distributed more than $14 million of support for families affected by autism. The grants that the Foundation distributes each year help to support family-focused programs in three key areas: promoting active lifestyles, improving access to services, and enhancing the independence of adults with autism. Funding supports non-profit organizations in Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Southern California, Central Florida and parts of Canada.
