Media Advisory - Largest charity polar bear dip runs again on January 1st
The Courage Polar Bear Dip, the largest charity polar bear dip in Canada, happens every New Year's Day in Oakville and raises funds for World Vision clean water projects in Africa.
If anyone knows how to brave the cold...it's Canadians. They don't just bare it, they Polar Bear-it.
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 4, 2017 /CNW/ -
WHAT: The Courage Polar Bear Dip for World Vision is the largest and longest-running charity dip in Canada.
Held at Coronation Park in Oakville on New Year's' day, more than 800 people brave the icy waters of Lake Ontario every year. Some do it to try something a little edgy, some do it to ring in the new year, but they all do it to help World Vision Canada.
Funds raised at the 2018 event will help improve the lives of children and their families by providing clean, safe water in communities around the world, including Mali in Western Africa. Net proceeds for the event have been going to different World Vision water projects around the world since 1995 and over $1.5 million has been raised in total.
WHEN: Monday, January 1, 2018, 12:30 p.m. ? 2:30 p.m., with the dip itself taking place at 2p.m.
