NICB Unveils New Public Website

DES PLAINES, Ill., Dec. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) has launched a new public website, the first redesign in some eight years. 

NICB's site (www.nicb.org) attracts millions of visitors each year, with thousands coming to the site each day to use the popular?and free?VINCheck^® service to look for indications that a used car has been salvaged or stolen.

In the seven weeks following Hurricane Harvey, VINCheck was visited more than 800,000 times as NICB warned people in the market for a used car to be on the lookout for flood-damaged vehicles.

NICB.org paints a more comprehensive picture of NICB's purpose as one of partnership with insurance companies, consumers and law enforcement to combat insurance fraud and vehicle theft.

The new website offers news and videos on insurance fraud and vehicle theft, information and tips on how to spot and prevent fraud, assistance for law enforcement and the news media, and information on membership.

Beyond the popular VINCheck service, the public can find specific information on various insurance fraud schemes and how to protect themselves under the "Prevent Fraud & Theft" tab. Bulleted tip lists and downloadable resources help make the information easy to understand and actionable. The public can choose to order NICB publications on the "Order Brochures & Posters" page.

Another new section of value to the site is the "For Law Enforcement" section. Here law enforcement agencies can learn valuable ways that the NICB can partner with them to assist in their fraud investigative needs and get information on training?all free-of-charge.
