$20,000 Awarded to schools in 2017 National Red Ribbon Week® Photo Contest
MIAMI, Dec. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Time to celebrate! Today, 20 creative teams won $1,000 each in the National Family Partnership's (NFP) National Red Ribbon Week Photo Contest. The 10 winning families decorated their homes and the 10 winning schools decorated their campuses with this year's Red Ribbon theme: "Your Future Is Key, So Stay Drug Free®," earning money for drug prevention for their local schools and an iPad for the family or the person who entered on behalf of the school.
The contest, co-sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), was part of NFP's National Red Ribbon Week® celebration ? the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention campaign, which began in 1985 after the murder of DEA Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena. The inaugural National Red Ribbon Week was organized by NFP in 1988.
"With the current opioid epidemic, drug prevention is more important than ever," says NFP President Peggy Sapp. "This contest engages families, schools and communities in delivering prevention messages to children in a fun and uniting way. We are inspired by the winners."
THE NATIONAL FAMILY PARTNERSHIP, a leader in drug prevention, education and advocacy since 1980, leads families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug-free youth. Learn more at www.nfp.org.
