LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Junior League of Los Angeles, Inc. "JLLA" will host the 18th Annual Harvest Boutique fundraiser, "Where Giving is Always in Style," on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE from 10:00 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m. This year's event will feature a fun-filled day of shopping with over 45 unique boutique vendors, a gourmet brunch, silent auction and award ceremony celebrating JLLA's work in the Los Angeles community.

"Proceeds raised at our annual Harvest Boutique fundraiser empower our 1,100 members to improve access to resources for Los Angeles area transition-age foster youth and underserved students seeking higher education," JLLA's President, Katie Young McCullough says. "We are incredibly honored to be recognizing two amazing volunteers and community leaders this year. Both women serve as examples of the power of our organization's mission: to develop the potential of women and improve our community through the action and leadership of trained volunteers."

Joy Burkhard, Founder and Executive Director of 2020 Mom, is the recipient of the 2017 Community Achievement Award ? presented to an individual of the Los Angeles community who has demonstrated continued, and devoted, service to philanthropic organizations and has made a difference in the lives of the members in the community. JLLA's award-winning public policy training launched Burkhard into a lifelong passion for perinatal mental health advocacy. 2020 Mom is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to closing gaps in maternal mental health care through education, advocacy and collaboration. Burkhard founded the National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health in 2013 and participates on the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative Executive Committee. In 2016, she received the "Emerging Leader" award in women's health from the U.S. Health and Human Services Agency Office of Women's Health, as well as Cigna's Volunteer of the Year award.

This year's Spirit of Voluntarism Award honors Phoebe Pierpont Vaccaro for her years of service to JLLA and the community at large. Vaccaro has dedicated years of service to the League since joining the Junior League of Omaha in 1962. She served as JLLA's President 1976-77 and AJLI Region VI Director 1978-79. Applying her JLLA training, she has taken on significant volunteer leadership roles with Children's Institute, Inc.'s Les Amies, Bel Air Garden Club, Bel Air Association, and LACMA Costume Council, among many others.
