IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The California superior court judge presiding over developing litigation against Children's Dental Group and several of its dentists has appointed Daniel M. Hodes and James R. Moriarty as co-lead plaintiffs counsel, according to Hodes Milman Liebeck, LLP and the Law Offices of James R. Moriarty.
Mr. Hodes and Mr. Moriarty now lead the plaintiffs team of 21 law firms that represent at least 80 families whose children were allegedly harmed at CDG clinics.
The dental malpractice lawsuits against California-based CDG allege that company policies and procedures exposed child patients to contaminated water leading to an outbreak of severe infections and public harm. CDG also is accused of performing unnecessary procedures, including pulpotomies.
The 15 pending lawsuits include 21 law firms that represent at least 80 families allegedly harmed at CDG clinics. The Hon. Glenda Sanders of the Superior Court of Orange County presides over the litigation.
The Court also appointed Carlos X. Colorado, of Eagan Avenatti LLP, of Newport Beach, Calif., as liaison counsel, and several other members of the plaintiffs' team to eight litigation committees.
Mr. Hodes said, "As our team's investigation of Children's Dental Group continues, the Court's order helps us further coordinate the litigation and effectively move forward. We have an excellent team in place to pursue the investigation and litigation on behalf of the families we represent."
Mr. Moriarty said, "This community health crisis caused at least 73 children to be hospitalized and we believe hundreds more faced debilitating infections. Our investigation and the pending lawsuits raise troubling questions about the policies and practices of Children's Dental Group."
