TMX Group Provides Update Regarding Regulatory Engagement

TORONTO, Nov. 24, 2017 /CNW/ - TMX Group, owner and operator of CDS, Canada's equities and fixed income clearing house, today provided an update on the engagement with the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), an umbrella organization of Canada's provincial and territorial securities regulators, regarding the clearing of securities of issuers with marijuana-related activities in the U.S. This is a complex matter which touches multiple aspects of Canada's capital market system, and as such requires close examination and careful consideration.

CDS continues to work with the CSA and exchanges to arrive at a solution that will clarify this matter for issuers, investors, participants and the public. This solution will be founded on each exchange's role in applying listing requirements, including exchange rules related to issuers' compliance with applicable laws. We will communicate more on this as soon as we can. In the meantime, there is no CDS ban on the clearing of securities of issuers with marijuana-related activities in the U.S.
