Ottawa Launch of Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week 2017


Minister of Health and Minister of Indigenous Services Added as Keynotes

OTTAWA, Nov. 23, 2017 /CNW/ -

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:   

Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week (Dec 1-6) launches Nov 30 in Ottawa with a Parliamentary Breakfast, followed by World AIDS Day events on Dec 1st in Ottawa, Iqaluit, Regina and Saskatoon; and Dec 2-6 in Vancouver, Edmonton, Prince Albert, Winnipeg, Eskasoni Reserve, Toronto, and Montreal.

This year's World AIDS Day theme: "My Health, My Right" focuses on the right to health and explores challenges faced around the world in exercising rights. Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN) will host the series of events to explore Indigenous right to health challenges - including HIV rates 2.7x higher than other Canadians.
