Partnership With Native Americans Participates in #GivingTuesday and Newman's Own Foundation Holiday Challenge

ADDISON, Texas, Nov. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- This #GivingTuesday, Partnership With Native Americans (PWNA) is once again teaming up with Newman's Own Foundation to raise funds to support Native nutrition and address food insecurity in Indian Country.

Many Native Americans are living in remote reservation communities with scarce supplies of fresh foods or grocery stores, Native Americans are also facing one of the highest rates of impoverishment in the U.S. Combined, these realities leave one in four Native American families impacted by food insecurity.

With limited shopping and multi-generational residences, providing a complete holiday meal at home is a financial burden that oftentimes leaves families without a special meal to gather around. Donations made to PWNA from Nov. 21 to Nov. 28 will help provide community-wide holiday meals for Native American Elders.

PWNA addresses immediate needs such as healthy nutrition year-round, and helps champion hope for Native Americans through increased availability of staple foods, fresh produce, garden resources, and training on healthy cooking and gardening.

Held annually, #GivingTuesday is a global giving initiative celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and recognized this year on Nov. 28. Newman's Own Foundation will grant ten nonprofits that raise the most donations through their Holiday Challenge with additional funding, up to $500,000.
