Gibraltar Introduces New Temporary Vehicle Barrier Products for Crowd Protection and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation

MARBLE FALLS, Texas, Nov. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Gibraltar, a leading manufacturer of anti-ram vehicle barriers used across the globe has announced the newest additions to its anti-vehicle barrier line.

The G-4033P Portable Drop Arm was tested and certified to ASTM F2656-07 test method. The portable drop arm stopped the 15,000 lbs. test vehicle traveling at 30MPH in a recent crash test performed by a certified independent testing laboratory. The barrier stopped the vehicle for an impact designation of M30 P3. The unit can be deployed in less than 10 minutes with two people.

The G-6532 Modular Vehicle Barrier (MVB) was tested and certified as a 20' standalone unit to the ASTM F2656-07 test method. The MVB stopped the 15,000 lbs. test vehicle traveling at 30MPH in a recent crash test performed by a certified independent testing laboratory. The barrier stopped the vehicle for an impact designation of M30 P2.

Gibraltar also performed in-house testing on 10' units and 5' units with extension bar arms to connect units together. The in-house testing was successful as the single 10' barrier was tested with a sedan sized vehicle traveling at 30MPH with minimal penetration. Two 5' units were tested with a full-size quad cab pick-up traveling at 30MPH. The two 5' MVB units were connected via a pedestrian access archway that can be purchased as an option to allow for pedestrians to pass through the barriers while keeping them crashworthy.

The MVB's also accept anti-climb fence panels that can be installed on the units to provide not only vehicle protection, but also anti-personnel. This makes it a great option as a temporary crash-rated fence line.

"The MVB and Portable Drop Arm are products that can be used immediately for hostile vehicle mitigation at events, festivals, conventions, etc. These products are designed to set up quickly and efficiently and require no mounting to the surface," says Jim Castello, President of Gibraltar Material Distribution.

The Portable Drop Arm and MVB are a key component of Gibraltar's anti-vehicle barrier portfolio, which includes offerings of crash certified fences, anti-ram crash gates, wedge barriers, bollards, and vertical lift barriers.
