OTTAWA, Nov. 20, 2017 /CNW/ - The National Inquiry is fully immersed in the Truth Gathering Process and as a team we continue to work towards the completion of our mandate. The administration of the National Inquiry, including performance management, is a responsibility that I take very seriously. Each team member is integral to ensuring the success of the work we do; we accomplish this by fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Our focus is to ensure families and survivors receive on-going support and consistent care as they go through the hearing process: before, during and after they have told their truth. This is a powerful and difficult process in many ways for all involved and we are committed to ensuring this is done with the utmost of professionalism and compassion. We are learning from our experiences and continuously try to improve what we do by using the very best resources and approaches available at any given time.
In the last seven weeks testimony from 293 families and survivors have come before the National Inquiry in four regional hearings and it is estimated an additional 189 will tell their truths in four more regional hearings before the end of 2017. The hard work and dedication of the staff has enabled the Commissioners to hear from an unprecedented number of families and survivors. I am very proud of what our team has accomplished in this short time period.
Over 1060 of families and survivors have already registered to tell their truths and we will continue to ensure that they all will be able to do so.
