PEC Safety Meets H2S Training Demands with 1,000 Authorized Instructors

MANDEVILLE, La., Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- According to OSHA, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is one of the leading causes of workplace deaths related to gas inhalation, with 60 recorded exposure-related fatalities between 2001 and 2010. High concentrations of H2S can kill in a single breath, but detection of this silent killer is often difficult due to its lack of odor/visibility.

To focus on the reduction of H2S related deaths/injuries, ANSI/ASSE revised their standard for H2S training with ANSI/ASSE Z390.1 - 2017. This standard is the most recognized, accepted, and effective way to keep employees safe while complying with OSHA regulations. It specifies the need for improved training to arm workers with the necessary information for recognizing, avoiding, and reporting H2S.

The first step to reducing the number of H2S deaths is to require that workers receive the proper training?one that meets the revised standards set forth in ANSI/ASSE Z390.1 ? 2017 and will provide students with crucial knowledge of H2S dangers and the precautions, tools, and controls necessary when working in potential exposure environments.

After the ANSI/ASSE Z390.1 ? 2017 standard was announced, demand for hydrogen sulfide (H2S) training began to rise. This October, PEC Safety achieved a major safety training milestone by obtaining 1,000 Authorized PEC H2S Clear Instructors across the United States. PEC Safety's achievement helps meet the demands of H2S training as companies begin to require more thorough safety training.

PEC H2S Clear is a course designed to improve employee safety for general industry workers who may potentially come in contact with H2S in the workplace. This program meets the revised standards set forth in the ANSI/ASSE Z390.1?2017. PEC H2S Clear provides students with crucial knowledge of the dangers of H2S and the precautions, tools and controls necessary when working in potential H2S environments.

With more attention and awareness toward reducing the number of H2S related accidents, injuries, and fatalities, PEC Safety is confident that they will continue to meet industry demands for trustworthy and standardized H2S training.
