Gov. Scott Appoints Dr. Nicholas M. Kavouklis, D.M.D. to Board of Dentistry

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, Oct. 25, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Dr. Nicholas M. Kavouklis, D.M.D. ("Dr. Nick") to the Florida Board of Dentistry. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning Oct. 25, 2017, and ending Oct. 31, 2018.

The Florida Board of Dentistry plays a leading role in the State's ever-changing health care environment. This is accomplished through communications with the public, legislature, dental colleges, the dental community, and through taking active roles in national dental organizations.

Dr. Nick is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Argus Dental & Vision, Inc., which provides dental and vision benefits for over 1,000,000 policy-holders. Dr. Nick stated: "I am honored to have this opportunity to make positive contributions to the Board's mission. It is my hope that the 30-plus years as a practicing general dentist combined with 25-plus years in the dental insurance market means that I may provide unique, and heretofore, unforeseen perspectives that will benefit the oral and systemic health of all Floridians."

Dr. Nick received his undergraduate Biology degree from the University of South Florida and his D.M.D. from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Florida Dental Association, Hillsborough County Dental Association and West Coast Dental Association and is licensed by the Florida Department of Health.

Dr. Nick has a diverse background of experience and a proven successful record with clinical, entrepreneurial and professional activities in the fields of dentistry, vision, insurance and managed-care cost containment. He has served as chairman for peer review and as an expert witness and testimony for the Florida Department of Profession Regulations. His range of knowledge includes not only clinical patient care but also dental and vision insurance, quality control, network development, and marketing.
