CAMTC Names 2017 Legislator of the Year


SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Massage Therapy Council names Senator Jerry Hill (D-San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties) as Legislator of the Year for the 2017 legislative session.

"I thank the California Massage Therapy Council for its special recognition and extend my gratitude to the staff of the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee, whose commitment to consumer protection and professional integrity are unparalleled ? and helped make my consideration for this honor possible," said Senator Hill.

Hill is being recognized for his exemplary leadership and dedication on issues related to massage industry public policy. The CAMTC board unanimously supported the nomination for Hill at its September board meeting because of his willingness to carefully work on complex massage regulatory renewal process and the implementation of the law. He continues to further define California's leadership in protecting massage consumers and local communities seeking the benefits of therapeutic massage.

The Legislator of the Year is an award given by the Massage Therapy Council to lawmakers who show exemplary leadership on matters of public importance. Past legislators to receive recognition were former Senators Lou Correa, Curren Price Jr., former Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla and Assemblymember Rudy Salas.
