Nezha Alaoui Was a Featured Speaker at the UCLA Center for Middle East Development's 12th Annual Conference, ?Enriching the Middle East's Economic Future'

NEW YORK, November 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

Mayshad Foundation, a leading U.S.-based NGO focused on supporting underserved women and girls in Africa, Americas and other parts of the world, today announced its President and Founder Nezha Alaoui spoke at the UCLA Center for Middle East Development's (CMED) 12th Annual Conference, 'Enriching the Middle East's Economic Future.' The invitation-only event took place in Doha on November 12-13, 2017.

At the conference, Alaoui spoke both days and reinforced her advocacy by contributing to topics impacting today's world, including:

"Boundaries are everywhere and are very clearly defined in the Arab world," stated Alaoui. "I come from Morocco, where women do have legal rights and yet many still limit themselves in their freedom to act because they fear the social repercussions in their lives. A woman's freedom begins with her own will and decision to free herself. This conference provided a wonderful opportunity for me to discuss empowering women."

Through her foundation, Alaoui is a global advocate for change. She is also the founder of the Mayshad Woman Club, a business-oriented networking club featuring workshops and panels, the editor-in-chief of Mayshad Woman Magazine and the Creative Director of her luxury handbag brand Maison Mayshad. Additionally, Alaoui is a social media influencer with over 750,000 followers (@Mayshadwoman).

The annual UCLA CMED conference, supported by the Foreign Ministry of the State of Qatar, has grown into an internationally recognized forum for government officials, active business and financial practitioners, and politicians and academics dealing with current economic, financial, political, and diplomatic issues. Experts brought their perspectives to pressing global policy issues, while simultaneously conducting private business and interchange.

The conference has previously been addressed by several distinguished keynote speakers and attendees, including former U.S. President Bill Clinton, former Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa, former U.S. Mideast envoy Senator George Mitchell, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman.
