Columbia Care Commends Governor Cuomo For Adding PTSD To Qualifying Conditions For New York's Medical Marijuana Program

NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- New York-based Columbia Care applauds Governor Andrew Cuomo for signing Assembly Bill A7006/Senate Bill S5629 adding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a qualifying condition eligible for care under the state's medical marijuana program.  The law will take effect for the observance of Veterans Day and will not only benefit New York's veteran population, but many thousands of PTSD patients state-wide.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans for their service and sacrifice.  By ensuring access to our medical marijuana products to those suffering from PTSD, we hope to take one step closer to fulfilling our mission of improving people lives. At Columbia Care, we are proud to offer our portfolio of medical marijuana derived products that are safe, consistent and manufactured to stringent quality standards set by the New York Department of Health," said Nicholas Vita, CEO of Columbia Care. "We thank the bill's sponsors, Senator Diane Savino and Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, along with Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature for their continued commitment to the veteran community, the patients of New York and their recognition of medical marijuana as an accepted alternative to help patients live well, naturally."

Chronic pain was recognized as an eligible condition earlier this year in New York adding to a number of other qualifying conditions including cancer, HIV infection or AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease, neuropathies, chronic pain, and Huntington's disease.

Columbia Care is proud to operate one medical marijuana cultivation and manufacturing facility and four dispensaries throughout New York State, with locations in New York City, Plattsburgh, Riverhead and Rochester. With concierge delivery service now available, Columbia Care will be able to provide convenient access to all New York's registered patients by the end of 1Q2018.  The Company's mission is to improve lives and communities through research, education, partnerships and the responsible use of their products.
