Statement from the Office of the Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada

OTTAWA, Nov. 10, 2017 /CNW/ - 'The gastro-intestinal surgery was successful. I am starting to feel better and expect to make a full recovery," said Minister O'Regan. 'I have to remain in hospital for a few more days of observation, but my doctors have agreed that I can participate in the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa on November 11th.

"To my constituents back home in Newfoundland and Labrador, I have also been told not to fly until the end of the month. Those who know me well know I find this particularly hard, but it is a vital part of my recovery.

"I would like to thank everyone who sent kind words and best wishes to me and my family over the past ten days. Your messages of support have made this much easier. I would also like to thank the medical personnel of the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their professionalism and empathy."
