Canadians Recommended to Fill Propane Tanks and Be Prepared

OTTAWA, Nov. 09, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The snow has already begun to fall in many parts of Canada but the Canadian Propane Association (CPA) and retailers are encouraging residents that it's not too late to ensure their propane tanks are full in preparation for the long winter season.

While Environment Canada is predicting a milder than average winter season coast to coast, Canadians need to ensure they are ready for whatever winter has in store.

?No one can truly predict the future so it's better to be prepared and ensure that your supplies are plentiful. Winter is peak demand season for propane,? says President & CEO Nathalie St.-Pierre. ?Propane distributors have secured supply, implemented monitoring systems to service customers, and over the years, have made significant investments in tertiary storage to meet demand.?

Proper planning can go a long way for homeowners to stay warm, save money and have peace of mind during the cold winter months. To help Canadians prepare, the CPA has developed a list of steps propane users can take to save money and reduce consumption.

?Customers can make sure they have adequate supply by regularly scheduling visits and enrolling in convenient payment programs with propane providers to help ensure there's always enough propane in the tank,? says St.-Pierre. ?For those customers who order when they need gas, we recommend ordering early to ensure they have adequate supply when the weather turns colder but also in case of snow and ice that can result in blocked roads and delivery obstruction.?

To help customers get the most out of their propane appliances, the CPA has also provided a list of important efficiency and safety tips. These include weatherproofing windows and doors, embracing conservation practices such as lowering thermostats and reducing hot water consumption, installing propane gas and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as performing seasonal maintenance on all heating systems and appliances.
