Lead Battery Industry To Release New National Recycling Rate Study On America Recycles Day

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with America Recycles Day, Essential Energy Everyday and Battery Council International, will release a new study on November 15 that reconfirms the extremely high recycling rate of lead batteries.

Who: Essential Energy Everyday and Battery Council International

What: Release of the National Recycling Rate Study

When: 10 a.m. EST on America Recycles Day, November 15, 2017

Where: https://essentialenergyeveryday.com/

Essential Energy Everyday will also celebrate America Recycles Day with a special social media campaign to promote recycling of other consumer products and encourage policymakers to consider sustainability when adopting energy storage policies.

Lead batteries are widely recognized for their recyclability. In 2014, the EPA reported that the rate of lead battery recovery was nearly 99 percent the highest recycling rate among other more well-known products such as newspapers (68 percent) aluminum cans (58 percent), tires (40.5 percent), glass containers (32.5 percent), PET bottles (32.2 percent) and more.

The lead battery recycling rate is made possible through their recyclability - every component of a lead battery is recyclable and new lead batteries are comprised of 80 percent recycled material through a closed-loop recycling infrastructure.

About Essential Energy Everyday
