Air Force Veterans Venture-Backed by Super Bowl MVP, Joe Montana, Launch Edtech Company

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NexGenT, a company that provides IT training through its custom-built LMS and also in-person, announced its official launch. NexGenT is on a mission to end the IT skills gap by providing real world job-ready skills training.

Terry Kim and Jacob Hess, founders of NexGenT, graduated hundreds of network engineers while serving as IT instructors for the U.S. Air Force. In the military, "We used to train people to be field-ready in just a few months. In the civilian world, however, most people believe that this takes years of study and work experience," said Jacob Hess, the company's lead technical instructor and COO.

After transitioning out of the military, Terry and Jacob worked as systems engineers for top companies such as Cisco Systems, TekLinks and Arista Networks. They realized that the IT education industry isn't preparing students for the real world. Hence, the IT skills gap keeps growing and growing.

Terry Kim, CEO, believes that the economy of the future will be powered by online learning, and that "the future of edtech lies on replicating in-person training online." According to Kim, this "will be done by using detailed analytics and automation to increase engagement and student accountability." NexGenT's custom-built LMS is equipped with advanced features designed to motivate students, hold them accountable, and keep them on track to reach their goals.

By offering their flagship program?Zero to Engineer?fully online, and then providing a 5-day in-person certification boot camp, NexGenT guarantees that their students are capable of keeping up with the fast-pace of the 5-day boot camp. At the end of bootcamp, each student gets a chance to get certified as a Full Stack Network Associate (FSNA) by performing essential and advanced tasks on real world networking equipment?zero written testing! According to Kim, this gives NexGenT graduates the skills they need to land a technical job and the ability to hit the ground running and start moving up in their careers.

Zero to Engineer alumni have been able to double and even triple their salaries in a matter of months. In one case, a student went from knowing nothing about technology, to becoming a network engineer at Samsung in 18 months.

NexGenT graduated from Angelpad (the #1 U.S. startup accelerator according to MIT's SARP report). Among its main backers is Liquid2 Ventures, an investment fund managed by Super Bowl MVP and NFL Hall of Famer, Joe Montana.

Terry Kim assures that "NexGenT is not just another education company promising out-of-this-world results and charging a fortune for training?that's not our goal. Our goal is to prove that people can learn the skills needed to make a good living in IT in a short amount of time, just like in the military, and that it's possible to scale this system while keeping tuition costs low?that's what NexGenT is all about!"

About NexGenT

NexGenT was founded on the belief that education is for everyone, that the ideal educational system should be based on real-world problem solving and skills training; that it cannot leave people in debt with degrees that don't teach the required skills needed to succeed in the workforce, and that it should prepare people to be field-ready just like military training does.
