Wounded Warrior Project Hosts Families at Halloween Carnival

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) embraced the Halloween spirit by inviting local warriors and their families for an afternoon of fun and healing at its annual Halloween event.

Wounded Warrior Project welcomed costumed kids and their parents (wounded veterans) to their headquarters for a special Halloween event.

WWP staff transformed their headquarters into a Halloween carnival complete with costumes, themed activity booths, and treats around every corner.

More than 50 warriors and their families came dressed in costumes and made their way through the carnival enjoying games, candy, pizza, and good company. Booth activities included painting pumpkins, bowling, temporary tattoos, and photo booths.

Costumed WWP team members accompanied veterans and their family members at every stop, providing the opportunity to learn about other free, life-saving programs and services available to wounded warriors, their caregivers, and their families.

Army veteran Adam Bagby, along with his wife and two daughters, participated in the Halloween connection event for their second year in a row.

For Adam, watching his daughters' excitement and determination to win candy in any way possible was the highlight of the event.

"We are so grateful that Wounded Warrior Project did this for our family and other veterans," Adam said. "We are already looking forward to attending next year's event."

WWP events like this one help connect Adam and his family with other veterans and the surrounding community. These settings accommodate warriors with physical injuries and social anxieties, providing opportunities for warriors to bond and build long-term support structures. They also offer a family-friendly atmosphere for warriors to reconnect with their loved ones.
