"With millions of Americans over the age of 65 struggling with depression, studies have shown that pet ownership helps lower stress levels and blood pressure, while also alleviating symptoms of depression," said Neil Zwack, Always Best Care Desert Cities franchisee. "With so many shelter dogs and cats in need of loving homes, as well as local senior citizens in need of companionship, we are proud to partner with the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and share in this special moment with seniors and their loved ones."

As part of their commitment to giving back to the communities they serve, Always Best Care also offers an exclusive program called Always In Touch, a telephone reassurance program that provides a friendly voice each weekday for seniors and disabled adults. In addition, Always Best Care has served as a national sponsor of the Alzheimer's Association and various food and educational drives.

By working with case managers, social workers, discharge planners, doctors, and families, Always Best Care franchise owners provide affordable, comprehensive solutions that can be specifically matched to meet a client's particular physical or social needs. The hallmark service of the Always Best Care includes non-medical in-home care and retirement living finder and referral services.

About the Palm Springs Animal Shelter
Since 1996, Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter (Friends) have been actively raising funds to help the Palm Springs Animal Shelter with operational needs. The old shelter was built in 1961 (nearly 50 years ago), and was woefully inadequate to meet the needs of the current animal population in Palm Springs. In 2009, the City of Palm Springs allocated $5 million in a capital improvement bond and the process of designing a shelter that would stand as a model for Southern California was finally completed.

Committed to being a humane and compassionate animal care and adoption center, the shelter does not euthanize animals for space, or for length of stay. As a public, open admissions shelter we provide a safe haven for ALL animals; adoptable, those who require rehabilitation, training and those requiring minor to severe medical treatment. For more information please contact the Palm Springs Animal Shelter at 760-416-5718 or visit http://www.psanimalshelter.org/.
