Veterans Affairs Canada opens a new service location in Saguenay
Government continues commitment to ensure Veterans and their families receive support they need.
SAGUENAY, QC, Oct. 26, 2017 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada recognizes the sacrifice and service that Veterans and their families have made to this country. Recognizing this, we remain steadfast in our commitment to provide them with the support they need, when and where they need it.
The Honourable Seamus O'Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, is pleased to announce that Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) has opened an additional service location in Saguenay, Quebec, to better serve Veterans and their families.
The new service location will provide increased support to Veterans and their families in the Saguenay area. Up to ten staff will serve approximately 1465 Veterans and their families from the new location. Employees at the new location will answer questions about VAC services and benefits; arrange pension medical examinations; and assist Veterans in completing and submitting applications and receipts. Case-managed Veterans will also be able to meet with their case manager.
The Saguenay service location is located at 100 Lafontaine Street, Chicoutimi, Quebec, G7H 6X2
Veterans and their families can continue to receive support at the existing point of service located at the Integrated Personnel Service Centre (IPSC) at the Canadian Forces Base Bagotville as approximately four VAC employees will remain at this location.

- As of October 2017, Veterans Affairs Canada has hired more than 420 new frontline staff to help ensure that Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, RCMP personnel, and their families are provided with the best possible services in their own communities.
- The Saguenay service location is in addition to the ten offices and expanded outreach to northern communities that were announced as part of Budget 2016.
