Scholars from China's NUDT join Academia, Private Sector and Public Sector at the University of Maryland for the Annual US/China Conference on October 24-25, 2017


COLLEGE PARK, Md., Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- We invite you to attend the "5th International Conference on Economics, Politics, and Security of China and the USA: Partnering for the 21st Century" on October 24-25, 2017.  The conference is scheduled to take place at the University of Maryland's Samuel L. Riggs Alumni Center, College Park, MD.  Each day registration will begin at 7:45A and the program will start at 8:30A and scheduled to conclude each day at 5:00P.  Please RSVP no later than Friday, October 20th, via email at www.cpppe.umd.edu/events.

The conference is a joint collaboration between the University of Maryland, College Park and the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), Changsha, China.  The goal of the collaboration and the conference is to conduct and present research on the US-Sino relationship with the goal of improving the overall bilateral relationship. 

We're delighted to have Melissa Hathaway, President of Hathaway Global, LLC, and Sr. Advisor at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center, give the luncheon keynote on "Responsible Disclosure ? Government and Corporate Roles." Hathaway, is the former Sr. Cyber Security Advisor to US Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, and former Acting Sr. Director for Cyberspace at the National Security Council.

The conference participants consist of experts from think tanks, non-profits, private industry, and academia to address essential issues for US/China, to include:

  • US-China Bilateral Security Relations;
  • Global Sustainability;
  • Security in the Pacific;
  • Nuclear Energy Proliferation, US-China Nuclear Weapons and Security Issues;
